New Russian Kurganets-25 light tracked armoured could be unveiled in 2015 military parade.
According to the Russian internet website "nakanune.ru", Kurgan Machine-Building Plant has reached a new stage in the production development of the new light tracked armoured vehicle platform Kurganets-25. The Russian Defense Company could be unveiled the new armoured vehicle during the military parade for the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2015.

The Russian Defense Company could be unveiled the new armoured vehicle during the military parade for the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2015.

This information was released February 20 by the First Deputy Executive Director Igor Permjakov of Kurganmashzavod, during a meeting at the Department of transport industry in the Kurgan region.

The Kurganets-25 was unveiled for the first time during a closed showing for the Russian leadership at the defense exhibition Russian Arms Expo 2013 in Nizhny Tagil. Currently, the Kurganets-25 is under trial tests.

Kurganets-25 is a new medium tracked platform designed and manufactured in Russia to replace gradually the family of Soviet-made armoured infantry fighting vehicles BMP, BMD and MT-LB.

The Kurganets-25 tracked armored vehicle provides high degree of commonality with the new Armata Universal Combat Platform.

The Kurganets-25 will have modular armor that can be upgraded for specific threats. The vehicle armed could be armed with a 2A42 30 mm automatic cannon, and four Kornet-EM anti-tank guided missile launchers.

In January 2014, Russian Ministry of Defense has announced a plan to renew 70% of the Russian army fleet with new armoured and main battle tanks for 2020.

At the same time, the spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major Kiril Kiselev, added, that Russia will acquire the new main battle tank Armata, the wheeled armoured Boomerang and the new infantry fighting vehicle Kurganets-25.
