"Tornado-G systems will arrive to replace Grad multiple rocket launch systems. The rearmament will last through the end of 2016," the spokesman said.

The advanced 122mm Tornado-G multiple rocket launch system is superior to its predecessors by its operational characteristics. Its combat effectiveness has grown by 2.5-3 times thanks to its yield, automated guidance and sighting system, survey and navigation technologies.

The Tornado-G system has been developed on the basis of the 9K51 Grad multiple rocket launch system.

In 2013, the Tornado-G multiple rocket launch system completed state trials and entered service with the Russian Armed Forces.
