OPTSYS, a subsidiary of Nexter Group (ExGiat Industries), is established in Saint-Etienne, in the heart of the “Vision and Optical Cluster”. OPTSYS is the French specialist and one of the European Leaders in the field of optical and protected vision equipment for armoured vehicles. For more than 40 years, OPTSYS has been designing, manufacturing and marketing onboard opto-mechanical and optronic systems for use by the land defence industries.

Heir to the optical division of Giat Industries, OPTSYS has the background, plans and technical skills for the modernisation and retrofit of onboard optical and optronic equipments on all kinds of old or modern vehicles and thus extend their lifetime.

OPTSYS has developed an entire line of innovative day and night vision products, muzzle boresights and armoured glass that equip namely APC (Armoured Personal Carrier) vehicle for infantry combat (VBCI), Leclerc heavy tanks (MBT) and also expedient road opening capability vehicles for Aravis, designed and produced by Nexter.

Day periscopes
OPTSYS develops, designs and manufactures a wide range of day periscope for combat vehicles. All OPTSYS day periscopes can be adapted to the needs and requirements of modern military vehicles with a full range of options like deicing, demisting, laser protection....

In operational service in more than 40 Armed Forces.

Integrated armoured glass solution
OPTSYS propose a complete range of STANAG 4569 level 1 to 4 bullet proof bays and windows. OPTSYS provides you with a complete innovative structure: frame + glass + seal that can be directly integrated on vehicle.

In operational service on VAB (APC vehicle), CRAB (Reconnaissance vehicle), and ARAVIS (expedient road opening capability vehicle).
OPTSYS offers a high quality product while optimizing the mass / ballistic protection / cost ratio:
- Low life cycle cost due to low mechanical stress in the laminate
- High rock-strike resistancy of the outer surface
- Durable and intelligent system design for high light transmission values and low weight – solutions

Muzzle boresighting scope
The search for ever increasing accuracy for flat trajectory weapon systems has led to a more precise boresighting between the gun muzzle axis and the associated sight: OPTSYS has developed those sights in order to cope with those specifications.

Digital Vision
 
Driver Vision Enhancement (DVE)
The optical equipment range of OPTSYS includes also Day/Night periscope, video periscope and video block. OPTSYS developed a range of night driver’s vision enhancement system which can be adapted regarding to all combat vehicles. OPTSYS offers option such as augmented reality.

Local Situational Awareness System (LSAS)
OPTSYS has also designed and produced the ViPer range, dedicated to on-board perimeter vision. ViPer range provides a day and night 360° vision solution from 0 to 200 meters around any kind of vehicle.

ViPer, in mass production since 2012, is a combat proven system and in operational service on ARAVIS and VBCI.

 
     
Augmented vision
 
Thanks to its expertise in optical direct vision and digital vision, OPTSYS choose the best of those two technologies to bring intelligence to the human eye.

The augmented vision range of OPTSYS allows the display of tactical informations on augmented reality compatible equipment such as windshield and periscope.

- MRO (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) and modernization of old equipment. Indeed, OPTSYS provides services to upgrade existing optical and optronic products on armored vehicles, turrets and cupolas in accordance with over 200 equipment references, or according to client specifications.
- New product engineering, from design to industrialization : optical and optronic design, easy realization of prototype thanks to its production capacity.

Day Periscope

OPTSYS experience and know-how in optronics and opto-mechanics allow, from existing systems, to design and adapt field-proven, latest generation systems.
 
Armored glass

OPTSYS is designing and producing innovating structure, customizable (size and shape are adapted to fit customer’s requirements) and compatible with night vision goggle. OPTSYS has a wide range of end products, STANAG 4569 from level 1 to 4.

 
Day / Night periscope

This kind of periscope is used in the French Army by the pilot and the chief in order to drive and to observe. They are military qualified and work with image intensification (II) device which is ideal for night vision.

 
Muzzle Boresighting Devices

OPTSYS is producing muzzle boresights that are in operational service in many armed forces. They are extremely reliable and consistent.OPTSYS is offering two specific technologies for two identified needs: reaching far and near target. Caliber bars are available from 7.5mm to 155mm.
 
ViDOK (Video Display Optical Kit)

ViDOK is a small optic video self-kit (which can be easily mounted on a universal periscope) allowing the user to see comfortably a wide screen in a restraint envelop.
This system is designed to be fix under any day periscope and integrated in all types of combat vehicles where space is limited. This reduced-cost product enables to modernize and upgrade existing vehicles such as T72, M113, BMP, AMX, BTR... without any modification of the pilot post ergonomy.

ViDOK is compliant with MIL STD 810F and MIL STD 461E and enables to carry out different kind of mission: help while maneuvering, night driving, tactical information display, long operating time (no tiredness due to collimating lens).

 
ViPer (360° Perimeter Vision)

ViPer is a high definition plug and play system with real time imaging.
ViPer is the name of the OPTSYS product range dedicated to on-board perimeter vision on armored vehicles. OPTSYS proposes different products depending on the mission requirements:
- Up to 8 cameras,
- 1 or 2 independent tablet PC (rugged or semi-rugged),
- Touch screen display,
- All kind of camera compatibility (day, thermal, EBCMOS…),
- Recording capacity
- Upgradable: PTZ, robot, tracking…
