DCNS presents at IDEX NAVDEX 2011 GOWIND vessels family for maritime surveillance and action.

Thanks to its proven expertise in warship design and integration of naval systems, The French Company DCNS designed and developed a new family of ocean-capable patrol vessels, called Gowind®. From the littorals to the high seas, the spectrum of missions assigned to navies increasingly includes maritime traffic control, protection of fisheries, marine environments and offshore resources, humanitarian assistance, interdiction of piracy, illegal immigration and drug trafficking, and, of course, counter-terrorism. To carry out these missions, Gowind® platforms and mission systems can be tailored to customer requirements for an optimum trade-off between homeland security and naval combat capabilities. The Gowind® family combines a flexible payload, impressive seakeeping and excellent operational availability. The Gowind® family also benefits from operational feedback and lessons learned by the French Navy and special forces all over the world.

Gowind® vessels offer unparalleled capabilities for at-sea operations. The design includes a sea-proven stern-mounted quick launch-and-recovery system for two commando boats, a flight deck equipped for a helicopter and/or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), a panoramic bridge offering 360° vision and a communications system to integrate the ship with sophisticated maritime surveillance networks. Depending on customer needs, overall length ranges from 85 to 105 metres and displacement from 1,000 to 2,500 tonnes.

One Gowind® OPV, named L’ADROIT is currently under construction at DCNS Lorient and will be launched in April 2011. This ship will be handed over to the French Navy in September 2011 to fulfil coastguard missions at sea.

Gowind® family includes the Gowind® Combat Corvette, a stealth and multi mission combatant with capabilities of a light frigate, including a full ASW suite.
Commited to customer, DCNS guarantees the support needed to adapt the design for local shipbuilding when required.
