IDEX 2015 key event for international defense and security industry to show latest military products.

His Excellency Major General Dr. Obaid Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for IDEX 2015, led the meeting of the Commission which comes within the framework of several regular preparatory meetings taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) to discuss key preparatory activities for the grand opening ceremony and the conference agenda for IDEX 2015. The committee also reviewed the military commissions' tasks and the latest developments related to IDEX, NAVDEX and UMEX which will run alongside IDEX.
     
His Excellency Major General Dr. Obaid Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for IDEX 2015, led the meeting of the Commission which comes within the framework of several regular preparatory meetings taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) to discuss key preparatory activities for the grand opening ceremony and the conference agenda for IDEX 2015. The International Defence Exhibition and Conference, IDEX, is the most strategically important tri-service defence exhibition in the world.
     

Chairman of the 2015 IDEX Higher Organizing Committee reiterated the importance of IDEX as a global platform held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and supported by His Highness Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with continuous follow up from His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. This significant occasion requires all government entities and various committees participating in the exhibition to boost their efforts and intensify their hard work aimed at providing an excellent offering to major international companies and institutions in the global defence technologies industry.

IDEX every year welcomes key decision makers from the defence industry, including defence Ministers and Chiefs of Staff and defence experts from all over the world; making it one of the biggest defence events in the region.

The meeting which witnessed participation from HE Ali Saeed Bin Harmal, ADNEC Managing Director, Mr. Saleh Al Marzooqi, CEO IDEX as well as representatives of local and federal authorities and UAE Armed Forces GHQ, discussed key activities and key features of the grand opening ceremony of the 12th edition of IDEX conference organized by ADNEC in association with the UAE Armed Forces GHQ that will take place on 22-26 February 2015 at ADNEC centre.
     
In February 2015, UMEX will be showcasing new and advanced unmanned technologies together with their full utilization in military and integration in civilian domains.
     
UMEX which is held for the first time alongside IDEX 2015 will provide a remarkable platform showcasing the latest innovations in the defence industry particularly in the unmanned defence systems space and is an area of key focus globally. UMEX will for the first time showcase a live demonstration of unmanned systems and vehicles in the Middle East and Africa region. The live demonstration during the opening ceremony will be held at 'Tarif' in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi.

HE Chairman of the 2015 IDEX Higher Organizing Committee stressed that hosting IDEX, NAVDEX and UMEX showcases the UAE's and specifically Abu Dhabi's distinctive capabilities in organizing and hosting the world's most significant exhibition. This further highlights the Emirate's commitment and efforts to build a diversified and sustainable economy reflecting the
Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, which positions the defence and technology sectors as a key pillar.

Speaking on the occasion Saleh Al Marzooqi, IDEX Chief Executive Officer said "The defence industry has grown in nature to develop and support multiple infrastructures beyond military. During the meeting, IDEX also displayed its gratitude and appreciation towards the 'Guardians of the Nation' campaign, launched by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on his accession day to pay homage to the UAE Armed Forces and recognise their momentous role in protecting the country and safeguarding its security and stability.

This year, IDEX is set to build on the outstanding successes and momentum achieved during the last years, It will witness an expansion of the exhibiting space allocated for the participating countries stands in addition to an area allocated for unmanned systems in order to stay in par with the developments taking place in the defence industry and continued growth in the number of visitors, exhibitors and participants.

During last edition, IDEX and NAVDEX attracted 1,112 exhibiting companies and over 80,000 visitors from all over the world.
