IDEX 2021: Yugoimport from Serbia unveils Tamnava multi-caliber 122/262mm MLRS


During IDEX 2021, the International Land Defense Exhibition in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the Serbian company Yugoimport unveils its new Tamnava multi-caliber MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) able to launch 122 et 262 mm rockets.

The Tamnava is a mobile multi-caliber MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) based on a Kamaz 6560 8x8 military truck chassis. It can be equipped with launcher pod able to fire 122 or 262 mm rockets. in 122mm configuration, the rear of the truck is fitted with two pods of 24 launcher tubes, and additional pack of 48 rockets is stored to the rear of the crew cab for rapid reloading.

In a 262mm configuration, the Tamnava is fitted with 2 two pods of six launcher tubes. The system is loaded with a hoisting device mounted on the rear of the crew cabin. Another option is to use
disposable launch tubes.

The rockets are either launched singly or by salvo at interval times of 0.3 s to 1.5 s with a 0.1-time interval. The rockets can be launched either by manual, semi-automatic, or fully automatic control from inside of the crew cab or with an optional 25 m off-vehicle remote-control box cable system. The 122mm rocket has a maximum firing range of 40 km while the 262mm can be fired at maximum distance of 70 km.

The time required to be ready to fire is 120 seconds and it can leave a firing position is less than 60 seconds, with the time taken for occupying a position, firing both rocket loads, and leaving being 4 to 5 minutes in total.

The crew cabin of the Tamnava is protected against the firing of small arms and two louver windows can be lowered at the front of the crew cab to protect the windows of the crew cab. The vehicle has a crew of three and all the firing operations can be performed from inside of the crew cab. The roof of the crew cab is armed with a 12.7mm machine gun and two smoke-grenade dischargers are mounted at the front on each side of the crew cab.

The Tamnava used the KamAZ-6560 heavy-duty military truck and has a total weight of 38,000 kg with a length of 10.36m. The truck is powered by a KamAZ-740.35-400 diesel developing 400 hp. It can run at a maximum speed of 90 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 1,000 km.
