PT Pindad in collaboration with Thales launch the Sanca MRAP based on Bushmaster
At Indodefence 2016, the International Tri-Service Defence Expo & Forum held from 2 – 5 November in Jakarta, Indonesia, local company PT Pindad unveiled the Sanca (meaning snake in Indonesian). Presented as "indonesia resistant armoured vehicle" this project is based on Thales' Bushmaster MRAP MRAP.

Sanca is an 11 tonne 4x4 protected vehicle with a 4 tonne payload, designed to perform a diverse range of mission profiles. Variants include troop carrier, command and control, direct fire, ISTAR, ambulance, route clearance.

Sanca is designed and built for 10 to 12 occupants, combining high levels of blast and balistic protection with excellent off road mobility.

Sanca is based on the Thales Bushmaster design, a battlefield proven vehicle in service with six countries on four continents which has proven performances in protecting and saving lives during operations.

Sanca is a customized Bushmaster to fit the Indonesian military requirements: The engine is different and the vehicle is fitted with a Rheinmetall remote weapon station.

PT Pindad is close to securing a contract with the Indonesian Ministry of Defence to produce an initial batch of 50 Sanca MRAP for the Indonesian Army.
