Armament | The Fadjr-3 has a total of 12 240 mm diameter rocket launcher tubes in two layers of six with launcher elevation being from 0 to +57º and with a traverse of 90º left and 100º right. To the immediate rear of the cab is a small crew compartment. The 240mm rocket launcher system is mounted on the rear of the chassis on a turntable with the manually operated elevating and traversing mechanism on the left side. | Rocket | The 240 mm Fadjr-3 unguided artillery rocket is 5.2 m long and weighs 407 kg. Spin stabilisation is employed, with three wraparound fins that unfold after launch. The maximum reported range is 43,000 m.The standard warhead, weighing 90 kg, is of the High-Explosive Fragmentation (HE frag) type and contains 45 kg of explosive ignited by a nose-mounted impact fuze. The Fadjr-3 unguided artillery rocket system has a rate of fire of one rocket every four or eight seconds and replacement Fadjr-3 rockets are packed three to a crate which weighs 1.65 tonnes. The rockets can be launched with an ambient temperature of between -40 to +50ºC. The rockets can be launched singly or in ripple fire and once the launcher has expended its rockets it would normally deploy to another position when new rockets would be loaded using a crane. | Mobility | In the beginning the Fadjr-3 was based on a modified Mercedes-Benz 2624 series (6 × 6) truck chassis, wisth standard configuration, diesel engine at the front and and fully enclosed crew cab. The system was also mounted on other truck chassis as the Japanese Isuzu (6 × 6) or a new German Mercedes Benz. The Mercedes-Benz 2631 6x6 truck is now the standard for the new generation of Fadjr-3. | Accessories | During launching the cab windscreen would normally be protected by shutters. To provide a more stable firing platform four stabilisers are lowered to the ground before the rockets are launched, two of these are positioned at the rear of the vehicle with another one between the second and third axles on either side. | | Specifications | Back to top | Armament | 12 launchers of 240 mm calibre | Country users | Iran,Syria | Designer Country | Iran | Speed truck | 60 km/h | Truck weight | 15,000 kg | | Propulsion | solid propellant rocket | Rocket Weight | 407 kg | Rocket | Single warhead, 45 kg, HE | Rocket range | 43,000 m | Truck Dimensions | Length, 10.45 m; Width, 2.54 m; Height, 3,34 m | | | | |
