Description

The 122 mm HADID HM 20 rocket launcher system is a 40-round launcher assembly system mounted on the rear of a Mercedes-Benz LAK 2624 6 × 6 truck chassis. This vehicle was developed by the Shahid Bagheri Industries division of the Aerospace Industries Organization of Iran.

Armament

The Hadid has a total of 40 122 mm diameter rocket launcher tubes with launcher elevation being from -1° to +55° and with a traverse of 102° left and 72° right. Mounted on the rear of the chassis is the turntable with the manually operated elevating and traversing mechanism on the left side of the launcher at the rear.

Rockets
Three types of rocket can be used on the Hadid MRLS vehicle, all unguided, the first, the Noor, sometimes called the Arash 3, is the smallest and has the shortest range. The Arash 1 and Arash 2 provide a boost in the maximum range of the system. All of them can be carried in racks which facilitate quick reloading. Iranian 122mm rockets carry a basic HE warhead as well as AP and AT submunitions, while HE-FRAG, and fuel-air explosives are suspected.
Truck
The HADID HM 20 is based on a older generation Mercedes-Benz 2624 series (6 × 6) truck chassis with the engine and fully enclosed two-door cab at the front. The mercedes-Benz 2624 is motorized with MB OM 355 engine coupled to an gearbox ZF 16S - 130. This truck can run at a maximum speed of 95 km/h.

The HADID HM 20 uses the same telescopic and panoramic sights as the BM-21.
