Meggitt Training Systems to provide USMC with marksmanship simulation and training systems
Meggitt Training Systems has been awarded a $31.7 million contract from the US Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) Program Manager for Training Systems (PM TRASYS) to develop and deliver the Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainers (ISMT) system for the US Marine Corps. The ISMT system provides realistic, state-of-the-art virtual small arms training for marksmanship, collective and judgmental scenarios.

The award provides a five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract that includes system and weapon simulator development, as well as the installation and support of more than 670 systems at US Marine Corps facilities both domestically and worldwide. The ISMT systems meet the US Marine Corps current training requirements, but have been designed to incorporate Meggitt’s FATS® M100 flexible system architecture to ensure the systems can meet future growth and evolving training conditions.

The FATS® M100 simulator series supports multiple, simultaneous simulation and training modes using a flexible architecture that allows customization of Meggitt Training Systems' courseware and systems. This allows the easy integration of hardware and software products unique to your training needs. Courseware may include CGI marksmanship (virtual range), High Definition video training, and integration of third-party, advanced gaming engines, including a 3-D Marksmanship Training environment featuring Meggitt’s tetherless BlueFire® weapon simulators. This results in enhanced, realistic visuals and a perspectively correct target presentation to positively impacts the shooting and training experience.

Phyllis Pearce, Senior Vice President, commented, “Meggitt Training Systems values the successful 26 year partnership as the Program of Record with the US Marine Corps. Our high-performance simulation systems, coupled with excellent customer support and program value, provided a strong foundation that led to this ISMT Program of Record award. Meggitt continues to support the USMC’s ‘Train As We Fight” doctrine, and we remain committed to the success of the USMC’s training objectives.

Since 1988, Meggitt Training Systems has helped the US Marine Corps prepare warfighters for combat situations through advanced simulation training,” said Ronald Vadas, President of Meggitt Training Systems. “Our extensive library of BlueFire® wireless weapon simulators, virtual technological advancements and innovative engineering provides the USMC with superior virtual products that ensure combat readiness well into the future.

First deliveries are expected the end of 2015.
