Russia's Central Military District troops to be equipped with Eleron-3 UAVs by mid-2015
The separate UAV companies of the Russian Central Military District will be equipped with Eleron-3 drones, which can be used both in autonomous and radio command modes, during the first half of 2015. This information was furnished by the press service of the Russian Central Military District.

The Eleron-3 drone is a short-range intelligence aircraft with a total weight of 5.3 kg and able to carry a load of 1 kg. This UAV can reach a maximum speed of 130 km/h and fly at 4,000 meters altitude. It may include TV camera, infrared camera, photo camera, repeater, radio technical reconnaissance and jamming stations.


The Eleron-3 drone is fitted with digital equipment on gyrostabilized platforms. It comprises a transponder and a radio intelligence station. The device can perform multiple flights and passes over a given point and carry out automatic landing using the GLONASS satellite navigation system, in a radius of 25 km.


In 2013, the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Defense Company Enix concluded a contract for the acquisition of 34 short-range intelligence drones for a total amount of 100 million rubles (EUR 2.2 million).
