Bittium awarded contract by Finnish army for tactical communication systems


Bittium has received a purchase order from the Finnish Defence Forces for the maintenance and further development of systems and related products meant for tactical communications.

The purchase order includes the maintenance and further development of the Software Defined Radio based Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network(tm) (TAC WIN) system, the Bittium Tough VoIP(tm) system for tactical IP calls and data transfer, as well as the products related to the systems. These systems are used by the Finnish Defence Forces to support their reformed combat doctrine, where mobility, leading the troops on the move and effective communications play a key role.

The purchase order applies to the years 2019-2020 and includes technical support for the systems and the equipment, software support, maintaining readiness for system support, management of system support and development of new features. Included is also the development of the waveform used by the Bittium TAC WIN system. This persevering development work continues the further improvement of the data transfer capacity and survivability of the TAC WIN system so that the performance of the whole system is world-class.

The value of the purchase order is EUR 3.4 million (excl. VAT). The purchase order does not affect Bittium's financial outlook for the year 2018 (published in the Half Year Financial Report January-June 2018 on August 8, 2018). Bittium will publish its Financial Statement Bulletin 2018 on February 21, 2019, where Bittium will release the Financial Outlook for 2019.
