Ukrspetsexport, Ukraine's state arms exporter, unveiled the first production model of the Oplot for the RTA at the Kharkiv Malyshev Plant (KMP) on 26 June.

In comments reported on the Ukroboronprom (Ukrainian Defence Industries) website, Director General Sergey Gromov said the Oplot contract would be completed by the end of 2014.

In September 2011, Ukraine's state arms exporter Ukrspecexport has annonced the supply of 49 Oplot main battle tanks to the Royal Thai Army. The state company said that the deal was one of the largest in the defense sector. Sources in the defense sector told Interfax-Ukraine that the deal was estimated to be worth about $240 million.

Ukraine jhas also delivered BTR-3E1 armored personnel carriers to Thailand. The total value of contracts signed in 2006 and in 2011 is estimated at $270 million.

The Oplot MBT armament includes a 125mm gun, 7.62mm coaxial machine gun and 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun. The tank crew is also equipped with sub-machine guns, hand grenades and a signal pistol.
