New Russian-made S-500 air defense missile system wil be unveiled at Army 2016 exhibition.
The promising Russian-made S-500 air defense missile system will be unveiled at the Army 2016 international military and technical forum which will be held near Moscow from 6 to 11 September 2016, Rambler News Service reported with reference to a source in the defense and industrial sector.

The Army 2016 forum will be held in September in the Moscow Region, the media source said.

"The work is in the homestretch. Its results will be unveiled at the Army 2016 forum. The advanced system will be able to down medium-range ballistic missile warheads and even intercontinental ballistic missiles," the media source said.

According to the media source, it still remains unknown whether the advanced air defense missile system will be on display for the general public or will be shown only to Russia’s military and political leadership.
As it was reported earlier, Russia’s Aerospace Force will receive the first prototypes of the S-500 air defense missile system in the imminent future.

Russian Aerospace Force Commander-in-Chief Viktor Bondarev said that S-500 air defense missile systems would start arriving for the Armed Forces in 2016.

According to Bondarev, the system will be able to intercept targets at an altitude of 200 kilometers (124 miles).

The first regiment of S-500 air defense missile systems is expected to provide air defense for Moscow and central Russia.
