The initial firm-fixed-price contract is worth $89.2 million. It is a multi-year contract with four option years, the company announced Thursday. If the options are fully exercised, the contract has a potential value of more than $230 million, L3 said.

"This award strengthens our long-term partnership with the U.S. Army," Todd Gautier, President of L3's Electronic Systems business segment, said in a press release. "The advanced capabilities of these mortar fuzes deliver unsurpassed safety, performance and reliability to the warfighter. We are proud to have delivered these fuzes to the Army for the past 20 years."

L3 said the fuzes will be made in Cincinnati, Ohio, by L3 Fuzing & Ordnance Systems.
