Russian S-300 Air Defence System Manufacturer Signs Deal with Iran
Russian S-300 air defence system manufacturer Almaz-Antey and Iran’s Center for Innovation and Technology Cooperation have signed a cooperation agreement, Almaz-Antey said in a statement on Thursday, June 26. "The sides agreed on interaction in promoting Russian innovative products of civilian designation on the Iranian market and organizing joint production of these products at Russian and Iranian industrial enterprises," the press office said.

Almaz-Antey integrates enterprises developing and manufacturing air defence and antiballistic missile defence systems. Its basic military products include the S300 PMU2 Favorit highly effective air defence missile systems. The defence manufacturer’s civilian output includes telecoms and radar equipment.

On Monday, April 13, 2015, Russia lifted the five-year embargo against Iran. Now, Iran expects the delivery of Russian-made S-300 air defense missile system by the end of the year, the head of the Iranian security council said Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

The contract for supplying S-300 missile systems to Iran was signed in 2007 and implied the delivery of five S-300 squadrons worth $800 million. But in 2010 the contract was put on hold due to the UN imposing sanctions on Iran.
