Turkish Company Otokar has received new order for Cobra 2 4x4 tactical armoured vehicles.
Turkish Defense Company Otokar has received a new order from Turkey for the delivery of new Cobra 2 4x4 armoured vehicle personnel carrier. In December 2015, Otokar has announced a first contract of Cobra 2 for the Turkish Ministry of Defence.

Turkish-made Otokar Cobra 2 4x4 tactical armoured vehicle at Eurosatory 2016, the international land and airland defence and security exhibition in Paris, France.
     

The Cobra 2 of this new order could be used by the Internal Security Forces which can include the Turkish police and gendarmerie. A total of 180 vehicles could be delivered in the next few months.

The Cobra 2 was unveiled for the first during the IDEF defense exhibition in May 2013. The vehicle is fully designed and manufactured by the Turkish Company Otokar. The Cobra 2 offers more mobility, protection and fire power than the previous version of the Cobra family.

The Cobra II provides higher ballistic and mine protection. The hull of the Cobra II provides protection against firing of small arms 7.62mm caliber and artillery shell splinters. The floor of the vehicle is fitted with a removable parabolic-shaped blast-deflection plate under the crew compartment to offer more protection against blast and fragments of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The Cobra II is powered by a 6.7L, six-cylinder, water cooled, turbo charged, common rail, diesel engine coupled to an automatic gearbox with six forward and one reverse speeds. The vehicle can run at a maximum speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 700 km.

The Cobra 2 can accommodate a total of 9 military personnel including driver and commander. The vehicle has a total gross weight of 12,000 kg.
