FFG from Germany will supply ACSV tracked armored to Norway

German Company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH (FFG) has won a tender to supply tracked Armored Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV), for the Norwegian armed forces, the company announced on 30 May, 2018. The FFG ACSV has been selected by the Norwegian armed forces as part of its logistic and support vehicle recapitalization program.

The ACSV (Armored Combat Support Vehicle) is based on the PMMC G5, which was also developed by FFG and is already proven under the toughest conditions, including extensive tests in desert and deep snow. The PMMC G5 combines outstanding mobility with maximum protection for crew and equipment.

The PMMC G5 (Protected Mission Module Carrier) is a new generation of multirole tracked armoured vehicle designed and manufactured by the German Company FFG (Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH).With the PMMC G5 (Protected Mission Module Carrier), FFG developed a vehicle that can carry additional loads thanks to its spacious interior and flexible deployment options. The G5 is a tracked 25 tons vehicle, featuring an unrivalled combination of outstanding protection, high performance, huge payload and an inner volume, setting new standards in military markets

The ACSV is a versatile tracked platform, available either in open or closed hull configurations. A flexibly designed loading area and integrated container mounts make the vehicle ideal as a carrier for container-based missions such as close-range air defence, radar applications or electronic warfare. The closed version has a large, efficiently protected and flexibly usable interior, which is ideally suited for transport, command or ambulance missions.

Besides the development and construction of the new Armored Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV), the contract also includes the supply of drive and protection packages for the M577 command post and other vehicles of the M113 family currently in Norwegian service. These modernization solutions are based on the proven G4 power packs, a field in which FFG already has extensive experience in the development and integration of protection solutions for military vehicles.
