Live demonstration counter-terrorism operation of Kazakhstan Special Forces at KADEX 2016.
At KADEX 2016, the Kazakhstan defense exhibition in Astana, Special Forces from the Kazakhstan Armed Forces have conducted a live demonstration with combat vehicles showing their operational capabilities to perform counter-terrorism operations.

During the live demonstration many combat vehicles were used to support Special Forces soldiers during assault of building including T-72 main battle tank, Humvee light tactical vehicle, Cobra 4x4 armoured personnel carrier, Land Rover 4x4 tactical vehicle and the new Arlan 4x4 armoured vehicle personnel carrier.

The Arlan is a new 4x4 armoured personnel carrier manufactured in Kazakhstan by the Company KPE (Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering) based on the Marauder developed and designed by the South African based Company Paramount Group.

The Arlan is manufactured with some new features according to requests from the Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense and to response to the new threats and the climatic condition in the country.

The Kazakhstan armed force has an active manpower of 39,000 military personnel with Army 20,000 Navy 3,000 Air 12,000 MoD 4,000 and Paramilitary 31,500.

There are a number of special forces units reporting to various Kazakh security agencies which are not part of the Armed Forces. The National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan has the Arystan commando unit, KNS' Border Guards has a unit, the Police have units, and the Presidency is reported to have its own units as well.
