Turkish Company Otokar awarded a contract to deliver Cobra 4x4 armoured to United Nations.
The Turkish Defense Company Otokar has announced a new $24.6 million contract for the delivery of Cobra 4x4 armoured vehicles for the United Nations. In a news release March 6, Otokar added the contract was for an unspecified number of the company’s Cobra vehicles.

The UN will use the Cobras in peacekeeping operations, the company said. The Cobra was already used in peacekeeping operations.

The Cobra has been designed by the Turkish Company Otokar to provide a combat vehicle with high level of maneuvering capability and ballistic protection to modern armed and security forces. The wheeled armoured vehicle Cobra is in service with mre than 15 countries in the world.

The optimized body angles of the monocoque hull structure provide Cobra built-in survivability. The hull provides all-round protection against infantry rifles and machine guns and artillery shell splinters. The vehicle provides protection against anti-personnel and anti-tank mines and side explosives.

The Cobra can be fitted with a full range of weapon stations and turrets armed with 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns, 40mm automatic grenade launcher or cannons up to 30mm calibre can be adapted to the Cobra range of vehicles.
