Vietnam ordered the modernisation of three basic S-125s in Russia in 2008. The upgraded Pechora systems rebuilt to Pechora-2TM modification were transferred back in 2015. SIPRI does not disclose the value of the contract.

The Pechora-2TM is an upgraded version of S-125 Pechora/Neva (NATO code SA-3 Goa) air defence missile system (ADMS).

The S-125-2TM Pechora-2TM Air Defense Missile System (ADMS) is designed to fight modern and prospective aerial attack assets in the complex jamming environment. The Pechora-2TM ADMS enables efficient destruction of low-altitude and small-size targets under the conditions of all types of jamming.

The Pechora-2TM ADMS can be employed to destroy ground and water-surface targets. In order to increase the jamming immunity the upto-date technical solutions, digital algorithms of signal processing and moving target selection are employed in the S-125-2TM Pechora-2TM ADMS.

The Pechora-2TM has a maximum target engagement range of 43 km at an altitude from 20 m to 25 km.

By late 2015, Vietnam had also received 168 Kh-35 Uran (AS-20 Kayak) anti-ship missiles (ASM) for Project 11661 (Gepard) frigates and Project 12418 (Tarantul-V) missile boats and 43 3M-54E/3M-14E Club (SS-N-27 Sizzler) ASM/land attack missiles, 65 53-65 and 65 TEST-71 torpedoes for Project 636 (Improved Kilo) diesel-electric submarines.
