Russia and Belarus in first joint tactical peacekeeping exercise


On 19 March, an opening ceremony for the Russia-Belarus tactical peacekeeping exercise took place in Ulyanovsk. The exercise is involving Russian Airborne Troops and Special Forces of Belarus.

The Russian formation are providing BMD-4M airborne combat vehicles and BMD-4M APCs, parachute systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, transport and combat helicopters, special EW equipment, small arms, sniper equipment. In total, some 600 troops and 80 pieces of military and special hardware are to be involved in the exercises.

This first Russia-Belarus exercise is being held in the territory of the Russian Federation, in accordance with the Cooperation Plan between the Russian and Belarusian defense ministries.
