General Dynamics Land Systems Canada unveiled yesterday the two first LAV-II "Cayman" 8x8 armored vehicles of the 32 ordered in mid-2014 by the Peruvian Armed Forces. Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in London, Ontario, Commandant of the Peruvian Navy, Admiral Edmundo Deville del Campo said the Cayman will be used to patrol the coast, as well as lakes and rivers, as the Peruvian Marines prepare for expansion next year.

Russian company Concern Kalashnikov has developed a universal upgrade kit for its Kalashnikov rifles. Ak-74M rifles will feature the new equipment for the first time at the Victory Day Parade on May 9 in Moscow. The universal kit improves the weapon’s combat effectiveness by 1.5 times, according to the so-called “frequency of destruction” at a distance of up to 300 meters and at any time of day and in different climatic conditions.

The contract from the Danish Ministry of Defense will include the acquisition of a minimum of 206 new armoured personnel carriers, with the exact number to be determined at a later date.

A group of 300 Syrian rebels will go through the first phase of the training program and a second group of 300 rebels will come to Turkey later, Cavusoglu said.
