Russian company Uralvagonzavod will unveil upgraded T-72 tank at KADEX 2016
Russian armored vehicle manufacturer Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) will unveil an upgraded variant of the T-72 tank with a sophisticated fire control system and an advanced thermal imager at the 5th Kazakhstan Defence Expo International Arms Show (KADEX 2016) to be hosted by Astana from June 2 to 5, Uralvagonzavod’s press office told journalists.

"Nizhny Tagil-based UVZ will unveil in Kazakhstan its upgraded T-72 featuring an all-new fire control system and thermal imaging sight. The vehicle designed for military operations in urbanized terrain will be shown at a static display ground," the press office said.

According to Uralvagonzavod, its subsidiary Burevestnik (a research institute in Nizhny Novgorod) will exhibit its designs at KADEX 2016 too.

"The exposition will include the 82-mm 2B24 mortar, 2B25 mortar and remote-controlled [fighting] modules. The corporation also will show its latest product - the 57-mm AU-220M automatic gun integrated with the BARYS 8x8 combat vehicle. The unmanned module is a remote-controlled 360-deg. traversing fighting system. There is no APC [armored personnel carrier] or an IFV [infantry fighting vehicle] capable to withstand a hit by the AU-220M," the press office added.

The Russian stand will exhibit the whole range of products, including the T-90MS tank, BMPT and BMPT-72 fire support vehicles, BMR-3MS armored mine-clearing vehicle, TOS-1A heavy self-propelled flamethrower, PTS-4 amphibious tracked carrier as well as IMR-3M combat engineer vehicle and MTU-72 armored bridgelayer.
