The destroyer “Zhengzhou” is the new-generation guided missile destroyer independently researched, developed, designed and manufactured by China. It is the second warship of its kind to enter the service of the East China Sea Fleet following its predecessor, the destroyer “Changchun”.

With the hull number of 151, maximum length of 155 meters, width of 17 meters, and a full load displacement of 6,000-plus tons, this new-type destroyer is equipped with multiple sets of new-type weapons and equipment independently researched and developed by China. With advanced performance and state-of-the-art equipment, it is able to attack surface ships and submarines either independently or in coordination with other naval forces, and has stronger combat capabilities of long-distance alerting and detection as well as area air-defense.

According to the briefing made by Li Yigang, captain of the guided missile destroyer “Zhengzhou”, the officers and men on board are able to skillfully operate all equipment, and have outstanding performance in the evaluations of various practical operations based on the previous tests and trial navigation.

Wang Huayong, political commissar of the East China Sea Fleet, presented the military flag and the naming certificate to the destroyer “Zhengzhou”
