Albanian army was trained during two weeks with the armoured vehicle Nexter Aravis.
The French company “NEXTER Systems”, in cooperation with the Albanian Land Forces, organised in October at the training area of the Special Forces Battalion in Zall-Herr a demonstration of the armored vehicle “ARAVIS”. It is a common practice the company also applies in many other countries of the world to exhibit its military products. The French company “NEXTER Systems” is one of the leading companies in France that supplies the Land Forces of the French Army with weapons, equipment and ammunition.

At the organised ceremony on this occasion attended, Deputy Ministers of Defence, Mr. Arian Starova and Mr. Ekrem Spahiu, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Xhemal Gjunkshi, generals, directors and other senior officers of the Ministry of Defence, General Staff and Armed Forces. It also attended the French Ambassador in Tirana, Ms. Christine Moro, French Defence Attaché, Colonel Henry Sowa, Vice President of the French company “NEXTER Systems”, Mr. Mike Duckworth, and other representatives of this company.

In his speech, the vice president of the French company “NEXTER Systems” Mr. Mike Duckworth, emphasised that “I’m happy to present this demonstration today in front of you. What I want to point out is the fact that, this demonstration would not have been possible without the support of the Ministry of Defence, General Staff and Albanian Armed Forces in these two weeks of training. We have come to understand that Albania is thinking more about the Armed Forces modernization and we as a company want to contribute to this process of modernization.” Then, Mr. Mike Duckworth made a brief overview of the company “NEXTER Systems”, a well-known company not only in France, but also in other European countries and beyond. Speaking about the extent this company has, he stated that, during this period “NEXTER Systems” has managed to sign a number of contracts with about 100 other countries. The job of “NEXTER Systems”, he said, is to support forces in combat operations, and one of the military means is “ARAVIS”, which provides a high level of security in the operations of the French Land Forces troops.

     
Meanwhile, the coordinator of the AAF Land Forces Command with the French company “NEXTER Systems”, Major Armand Shtëmbari, informed that, in cooperation with the company, was conducted a two week training with a staff of 40 people, consisting of 12 troops from the 2nd Infantry Battalion, 11 troops from the Special Forces Battalion, 11 troops from the Commando Battalion and 6 troops from Military Police Battalion.

Later, Dr. Emanuel Fron, technical manager of this company, informed the participants about the details of construction, operation, missions and tasks performed by the armoured vehicle “ARAVIS”, presenting them with audiovisual views.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of the AAF (Albanian Armed Forces) Land Forces Command with the French company “NEXTER Systems”, Major Armand Shtëmbari, informed that, in cooperation with the company, was conducted a two week training with a staff of 40 people, consisting of 12 troops from the 2nd Infantry Battalion, 11 troops from the Special Forces Battalion, 11 troops from the Commando Battalion and 6 troops from Military Police Battalion. The purpose of this training was to familiarize the Albanian Armed Forces personnel in order to recognize and use the armored vehicle “ARAVIS”. During this period, the Albanian Armed Forces personnel was trained by experts of the company “NEXTER Systems”, by performing exercises with this vehicle in different terrains, like in Zall-Herr, Shkodra and at the National Training Range in Biza, conducting combat shooting.

In the end, the participants attended a demonstration of armored vehicle “ARAVIS” in a rugged terrain by the Albanian servicemen, as well as visited closely this vehicle.

The armored vehicle “ARAVIS”, manufactured by the French company “NEXTER Systems”, is a multi-mission vehicle and with high defence, modern technology with all of the combat management system. “ARAVIS” is able to meet the operational requirements required for the security of the country, as well as during anti-terrorism war in missions abroad. This military armored vehicle is involved in peacekeeping operations conducted by the Alliance’s forces in Afghanistan.
