The Black Widow Spider has been designed to provide protected firepower and mobility. With modularity design concept, the vehicle can integrate various missions’ payloads, weapon turrets and counter measures as operating environment changes.

The V-shaped monocoque structure is based on welded steel which provides a protection against small arms, blast and anti-tank weapons. An enhanced protection is achieved by add-on armour to obtain level 4 STANAG 4569.

The Black Widow Spider can carry a squad of 11 soldiers, commander and gunner. The vehicle is equipped with suspended seats to increase protection against mine blast.

The project takes advantage of Thailand's global automotive industrial capability through Public-Private partnership, enabling localised Through-Life support. DTI armoured vehicle is in alignment with Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ms Yingluck Shinawatra's initiative of national research and development strategy.
