Saint-Gobain Crystals delivers transparent armor for M142 HIMARS windshields and door windows
 

The United States Army and Marine Corps received its 100th set of sapphire-engineered armor to make the bulletproof windshields and door windows of the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Launcher significantly safer and more durable. Saint-Gobain Crystals, part of the Saint-Gobain family of companies, provided the breakthrough, sapphire based technology.

Egypt could purchase up to $4 billion of weapons and military equipment from Russia
 

Egypt is considering spending up to $4 billion on advanced weaponry from Russia following the partial suspension of military aid and equipment deliveries from the United States, a Palestinian online newspaper said Thursday, November 7, 2013. According to Donia Al-Watan, Moscow has offered Cairo “a historic deal giving Egypt an option to buy the most advanced weaponry without any restrictions.”

Four M1135 Strykers are now in the hands of a Fort Drum unit that specializes in unconventional warfare mission. The 59th Chemical Company, 63rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, accepted delivery of the Stryker nuclear, biological and chemical reconnaissance vehicles, Oct. 24.

Canadian army completed military training of Polish soldiers for deployment in Afghanistan
 

Twelve Canadian Army officers and senior non-commissioned members completed a nine-day training event aimed to certify the readiness of Polish Task Force (PTF) White Eagle Headquarters for a deployment to Afghanistan that is planned for December. The training event, dubbed Exercise BAGRAM XIV, marked the first time - in the 14-year history of the exercise – that Canadian Armed Forces participated.

The contract also includes covers for 217 U.S. Navy MRAPs, U.S. Marine Corps Light Armored Vehicles (LAVs), M777 Howitzers and other critical items.
