The serial production of the unique Russian-made ADS underwater assault rifle is scheduled for 2016, a source in the defense and industrial sector said on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015. "As many as 20 ADS underwater assault rifles, on which assault rifle manufacturing technologies will be tested, are expected to be produced in 2015. The serial production of the rifle is scheduled for 2016," the source said.

Following the operational trials, minor modifications will be introduced to the serial underwater assault rifle to make it more comfortable for operation, the source added.
"In particular, the developers have improved the design of the rifle's gas block switch to prevent the loss of parts," the source said. According to the source, foreign customers are showing great interest in the Russian-made ADS underwater assault rifle. The ADS utilizes a 5.45×39 standard cartridge as well as an underwater cartridge designed with almost the exact same dimensions. This means that both types of ammo fit into a standard magazine and thus the rifle features a single magazine well. The ADS underwater assault rifle has been equipped with an under-barrel grenade launcher and a 1x magnification collimating sight. |
