NIMR Ajban LRSOV and 440A in service with Turkmenistan army


Turkmenistan Armed Forces and Special Forces use different types of wheeled combat vehicles designed and manufactured by the UAE-based Company NIMR. The NIMR Ajban LRSOV (Long Range Special Operations Vehicle) and Ajban 440A 4x4 protected vehicle was showed for the first time to the public during the Turkmenistan's Independence Day parade on October 27, 2017.

According to the SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) arms trade database, NIMR has delivered in 2016 10 Ajban 440A to Turkmenistan, but there is no information about the purchase of Ajban LRSOV Special Forces vehicle.

The NIMR AJBAN Long Range Special Operations Vehicle (LRSOV) is an open-top 4x4 long-range reconnaissance vehicle designed for use by Special Forces. Light and powerful, capable of accessing all terrains in addition to being helicopter transportable, the vehicle can be customized to accommodate a range of user specified equipment.

The AJBAN LRSOV is based on NIMR’s multi-purpose platform, developed to meet various military requirements from utility vehicles to fully protected tactical vehicles. The LRSOV seats 4 crew with an optional 5th seat, providing all round situational awareness and self-defence from a high mounted heavy machine gun ring and gun mounts at all crew positions. There is a cargo area at rear part of the vehicle.

The Ajban LRSOV of Turkmenistan armed forces seems to be armed with two types of main weapon on circular ring, a 12.7mm heavy machine or one 30mm automatic grenade launcher.

The Ajban 440A is a multi-role protected vehicle based on the NIMR Ajban-class family. The layout of the vehicle is divided in three compartments with the engine at the front , a double crew cab in the middle and open-top cargo compartment at the rear. The crew cab is protected against ballistic and mine threats and can accommodate four military personnel.

The Ajban 440A is motorized with a Diesel engine developing 296 hp. at 2,500 rpm coupled to a speed automatic transmission. The vehicle can run at maxim road speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 700 km when travelling at a speed of 100 km/h.

The Ajban 440A of Turkmenistan armed forces is armed with a Russian-made anti-tank guide missile launcher mounted on the roof of the vehicle and one NSV 12.7mm machine gun on anti-aircraft mount fitted in the cargo area at the rear of the vehicle.
