250 Russian troops sent to India to participate in Indra 2018 exercise


On 16 November, 2018, a major part of the personnel from the Eastern Military District, stationed in the Primorsky Krai, went to India to participate in the Indra 2018 bilateral Russian-Indian exercise, which will be held in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

A total of 250 men of the Eastern Military District were airlifted by two Ilyushin Il-76 "Candid" military transport aircraft from Vladivostok to the Indian capital, before transfer to the Babina training ground for their participation in the practical stage of the exercise. Earlier, a group of officers from the Eastern Military District Staff arrived in India to prepare a joint Russian-Indian exercise.

The Indra 2018 exercise is taking place on November 18-28. In total, 500 troops from the Russian and Indian armed forces are involved in the drills. The Indian side is providing military vehicles for practical actions of the Russian military.
