Nigerian Artillery Corps begins exercise Vulcan Glow


On 11 November, the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery started exercise ‘Vulcan Glow’ to support and strengthen the fight against insurgency and other security threats in the country.

The Commander of Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, Maj.Gen. Abubakar Tarfa, said in Kachia, Kaduna State that the exercise involving all artillery formations and units, would harmonize information, planning, employment and deployment of artillery in all phases of war, including counter-insurgency operations. “This is part of our training on conventional warfare and counter insurgency operation, to ensure soldiers and officers are trained to support all the fights against terrorism in the northeast and other parts of the country. ”At the end of this exercise, we expect better performance by the personnel when they are deployed for operations within and outside the country.” Tarfa disclosed that the exercise was also a competition among the formations and units, at the end of which the exceptional brigade will go home with trophy.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that five brigades are participating in the 6-day exercise which include the 31 Artillery Brigade Minna, the 32 Artillery Brigade Akure, the 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, the 34 Artillery Brigade Owerri and the 35 Artillery Brigade in Ogun State.
