The Iranian Army on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, started three days of wargames in Kermanshah by exercising rapid reaction tactics.

The drills, codenamed Zolfaqar 91, are conducted in the general zone of Tangeh Hajiyan and Melhani region in Gilan-e Gharb region in Kermanshah.

The Islamic Republic Army ground forces and airborne units are among the operating units in the drills.

Addressing a ceremony on the occasion of the drills, Pourdastan said the wargames are aimed at boosting the combat preparedness, mobility and activity of the ground forces.

"Modern weapons and equipments which have been made by local industrialists are being used in Zolfaqar 91 drills," Pourdastan said.

He further stressed that conducting exercises proportionate to the threats existing outside the Iranian borders are on Army's agenda.

Earlier, a senior Iranian Army commander, Saeed Arablou, said on Thursday that Zolfaqar 91 "will be one of a kind and among the most spectacular drills ever held by the Iranian Army".
