"The Emad missile is able to strike targets with a high level of precision and completely destroy them," state news agency IRNA quoted Dehghan as saying.

“The Emad missile, which was designed and made domestically by our scientists in Iran, is the first long-range missile of the Islamic Republic of Iran that can be controlled and directed until the last moment of hitting its targets,” Dehghan told reporters.

The Iranian defense minister said Emad would be mass produced and delivered to missile units of the Iranian Armed Forces soon to significantly enhance their tactical and operational power.

Expert says Emad missile would have a range of 1,700 km (1,060 miles), 500 meters accuracy and a 750 kg payload.

“We do not need permission from anyone to boost our military and missile capabilities. We will decisively follow our defense program objectives and expand our missile capabilities. Emad missile is a result of our persistence,” he said.

General Dehghan marked this event as a great technological advancement in Iran’s military capabilities.
