The purpose of this internship was to train Gabonese soldiers in the procedures for using the 81mm mortar. The trainees, already trained on this type of weapon, have been able to benefit from theoretical reminders and practical battery sessions. Binned with French instructors, the Gabonese military were able to work on technical know-how such as room service, battery charging and clocking.

This instruction was closed by firing exercises on the Ayeme firing range. The accuracy of the shots made by the trainees demonstrated the effectiveness of the training provided. As an operational cooperation hub, the GFEs complete the training of military members of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) during their preparation before engaging in internal or external operations. Nearly 8,400 trainees are distributed each year in more than 200 highly specialized courses. The GFE is also an operational and logistical support point (Joint Theater Support Base - BSIAT) in Central Africa for the eventual conduct of an operation by the French Army or for the transit of forces.
