Discover South Korea K9MH Mobile Howitzer New Generation Artillery System
Apr 17, 2026
South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace has unveiled the K9MH 155mm mobile howitzer, introducing a faster and more automated artillery system designed for high-intensity warfare. Built on a wheeled 8x8 chassis, it combines rapid deployment with improved battlefield mobility compared to tracked systems.
The key upgrade is a new autoloader capable of firing up to 9 rounds per minute, increasing firepower and enabling advanced techniques like Multiple Round Simultaneous Impact (MRSI). The system retains a 155 mm 52-caliber gun, compatible with NATO ammunition, with ranges exceeding 40 km and up to 70 km using extended-range projectiles.
Featuring an unmanned turret, armored cabin, and a crew of three, the K9MH enhances survivability while reducing workload. With 40 rounds onboard, it can sustain high-tempo operations without immediate resupply.
Positioned against systems like CAESAR, Archer, and RCH 155, the K9MH reflects a broader shift toward mobile, automated, and high-rate artillery systems for modern battlefields.
