My name is Christoph Jehn, I'm part of FFG, Flensburger Fahrzeugbaugesellschaft, difficult
1:28
to say the word in English, so let's stay with FFG. We are a tank producing company
1:34
from the north of Germany and we produce a variety of vehicles. What you see here behind
1:39
us is our latest development, it's a Boxer recovery module, the Boxer 8x8 armoured recovery
1:48
vehicle which has been fielded to many NATO countries currently. It's a modular vehicle
1:56
but was up to now lacking a recovery capability with a crane and a winch, so we took up that
2:03
challenge as a private venture and designed that module and it features a 20 tonne crane
2:10
and a 20 tonne main winch as the main tools for recovery as well as the cutting and welding
2:16
stations and whatever tools the potential user requires for his services. The module
2:23
you see behind us is an armoured module, it fits to the standard interfaces of the
2:30
Boxer ARV. The module is autonomous, it is run on a large battery pack which is inside
2:36
which generates and stores the required power to provide the hydraulic forces through hydraulic
2:43
pumps to generate this 20 tonne lifting force and 20 tonne pull force which enables the
2:50
module to move other mission modules which are out there of various types for the Boxer
2:57
from one driving module to the other, take them off for maintenance, replace power packs
3:03
engines, weapon stations, pull out distressed vehicles out of a ditch and stuff like that
3:09
That's what this module is built for. It has a crew of two, a commander and a gunner. It
3:15
can feature a remote weapon station as you see on top as required by the customer. The
3:21
customer will specify what is required and then we'll sit together and provide an engineering
3:28
solution because that's our core capability at FFG to provide customer tailored solutions
3:34
Expectations, it's a debut. We didn't do much marketing work for that because we wanted to
3:41
showcase it here for the first time. The reception at the show here is awesome by the potential
3:49
customers so we have lots of interesting conversations about the module, getting
3:55
feedback and we are hoping obviously to build closer ties with potential customers in order
4:02
to sell it eventually. Well, good afternoon. My name is David Kaufman. I'm the sales manager for Straight Group based
4:37
in the United Arab Emirates. This is the fifth year that Straight Group has been proud
4:41
to present our vehicles to DSCI. In particular, what's fascinating about this year for us
4:48
is that we have a new amphibious vehicle which is a Sherp which I'll show you in a moment
4:53
and also we have Straight Marine which has been created and founded in the last few years
4:58
and this year at DSCI we're highlighting our Triton 850 and also our Sand Tiger 750 which
5:06
is actually a hovercraft vehicle. We have four military grade armoured vehicles. Behind
5:11
me as you can see we have the Falcon ABC. To my left which you'll see in a moment is
5:16
the Jepard ASV. We also have the Python and we also have our newly upgraded and armoured
5:23
Stannock Force Scorpion which is at the back of the booth. The reason we manufacture so
5:29
many different variants of vehicles is because no scenario, sortie or mission is ever the
5:34
same for any country be it urban combat, off-road combat, environments or mission
5:42
statements whereby there are mines or IEDs. So we develop our vehicles very closely with
5:48
the client's visions and security and safety at all times. For us, DSCI as a whole is very
5:56
important. It gives us the opportunity to meet country delegations and for the delegations
6:01
to actually come and see that the products that we produce and we phone them about and
6:05
we email them about and talk to them about, they can actually see that they're produced
6:09
and the quality and standards that we deliver continually to our clients. In the first half
6:15
of 2019, Straight Group have already manufactured and delivered over 600 vehicles which have
6:21
gone across the globe to all of our clients which is a fantastic achievement for one of
6:25
the world's largest privately owned vehicle companies. I am the President of Defense Industry of Turkey and we are responsible in providing
6:40
Turkish Armed Forces and Security Forces different equipment and also R&D projects
6:47
in Turkish Defense Industry. We have overseen all Turkish Defense Industry environment and
6:54
we are here today in DSCI to see first what the other countries are doing and also more
7:01
important is to present the products that we have produced. We are here today to present Turkey and Turkish companies' capabilities and products as a showcase so that Turkey's
7:32
level of advancement in Defense Industry would be known by the world because in the last
7:38
15 years, we had great progress in Defense Industry and Defense Products that served
7:45
in different operations at different levels with great success. So when these capabilities
7:53
are known by other countries and allies and strategic partners, this will create more
7:58
synergy and will have sale opportunities and also some collaboration opportunities, some
8:06
joint projects. In the meantime, as a government agency, we are here to have G2G meetings and
8:14
negotiations with other countries. In one hand, there are about 43 Turkish companies
8:20
here presenting their products and have different meetings with different parties, governments
8:26
and companies and we are here as a government agency to support our companies because Defense
8:34
Industry in general is an industry that not only companies but the governments and government
8:40
relations are important. So we are here to show our support for our companies and it
8:46
is a good environment for us. Also, it's a good opportunity to let what level Turkish
8:54
Defense Industry came right now and what are our future projects and future targets so
9:00
that we can have some joint projects with other countries and other companies. And by
9:06
this way, we are hoping to increase our defense exports as well as collaboration opportunities
9:14
because this area is getting more and more expensive and it is not really wise for any
9:20
country to just launch a very big project alone. So this is also a good opportunity
9:25
to discuss big projects that we are running like Turkish National Fighter Projects, National
9:30
Submarine Projects and UAV Projects and some engine and aircraft projects. So I am the Chief Engineer with L3Harris Technologies in the Robotics Division. So
9:50
L3 Technologies and Harris Corporation recently merged as of July and it is pretty exciting
9:58
Those two companies make an awful lot of great technologies. Now combined we are about
10:06
50,000 employees, over $18 billion a year in business and it is giving us the opportunity
10:13
to take technologies from those two companies, bring them together and make something that
10:18
is even more exciting. So we are excited about that. So I am the Chief Engineer with L3Harris Technologies in the Robotics Division. So L3 Technologies
10:28
and Harris Corporation recently merged as of July and it is pretty exciting. Those two
10:33
companies make an awful lot of great technologies. Now combined we are about 50,000 employees
10:40
over $18 billion a year in business and it is giving us the opportunity to take technologies
10:47
from those two companies, bring them together and make something that is even more capable
10:52
than we had in the past. So what you are looking at is our newest robot T4. We are just unveiling
10:56
it here for the first time. We have a larger robot called T7. This is a medium sized robot
11:02
and he is going to start controlling it in a moment and as he moves it around, the way
11:06
it works is as he moves his hand, the robot is actually going to mimic his movement. So
11:11
if he pushes down, it is going to go down towards the ground. Inside those fingers are
11:16
sensors that measure force. So when the robot goes and grabs something or pushes on something
11:21
at the controller, that force is then reproduced and he feels what the robot feels. So it moves
11:28
and he feels what it feels. So it gives you the ability to do some very complex tasks
11:34
very quickly, very easily. It is an easy system to learn as a side effect. And for situations
11:40
like explosive ordnance disposal, chemical, biological threats, we have the ability to
11:44
deploy mission specific payloads. So for EOD, we do disruptors. So this can be fitted with
11:50
an array of different disruptors to defeat threats that are explosive. For chemical and
11:54
biological threats, we have payload connectors to allow sensors to be placed on the arm and
11:59
down on the chassis. And for ease of deployment, the whole robot arm, when it is stowed on
12:04
the chassis, easily comes off. The robot can be broken down into smaller, lighter pieces
12:10
So it is something that you can transport in the back of an SUV or a sedan. Something
12:14
very easy to get to a target. But once you put that together, you have got a lot of capability
12:18
that you can get into some fairly tight spaces. Yeah, so DSEI is a great show. I have personally been at this several times. And it is an opportunity
12:27
for us to interact with customers from all over the planet, especially for a new product
12:32
like this where we are bringing something forward that we are hoping people are going to be excited about. That we think there is a lot of capability here that they have not
12:38
seen before. And to be able to interact with users, interact with people from the procurement
12:42
community, and to see them react to it the same way. That people get excited about it
12:49
But moreover, they are also bringing new ideas to us. As I bring a new capability to
12:53
them, they are thinking of new problems that I have not thought of. And ways to use this
12:57
tool as a way to solve those problems. I am Laurent Soyer, Director of Business Development for Europe. I am in charge of all communication
13:30
products for the company. So at DSEI, we are under the banner of Collins Aerospace, which
13:37
consists of the former UTC Aerospace Systems and Rockwell Collins, which have merged together
13:47
under the banner of Collins Aerospace. Collins Aerospace is today at DSEI launching a new
13:53
URG4 system, which is our new military HF solution for ground-fixed sites and for navies
14:03
which embeds a state-of-the-art solution for wideband, beyond line-of-sight data transfer. So with this new product that you can see on the booth here, we have a new transceiver
14:17
and we have a new power amplifier, which allows to transfer high-throughput IP data between
14:25
the users. The benefit of our new wideband HF solution is to allow the communication
14:32
of real-time IP data, including chat, emailing, even video, between the users with long-haul
14:44
strategic communications. DSEI is the right forum to launch such a product because we
14:50
have all the defense community present here, all the NATO countries, the NATO nations are
14:56
there to see our new product, which they are using today in the previous version
