Armament |
For
his self-protection the DMT-85M1 is equipped
with a remote-controlled turret, which is
handled from the interior of the vehicle.
This remotely turret enables crew to fire
under the protection of armour. The turret
is armed with a 7.62 calibre machine gun.
In addition to the machine-gun, the DMT-85M1
is equipped with 16 smoke grenade launcher,
of which 10 are placed in front of the compartment

Protection |
A
rectangular crew compartment is mounted
to the centre of the chassis. All the combat
operations can be done by the engineer team
from inside of the vehicle. The combat compartment
and the hull provide to the crew a protection
against the firing of small weapons and
shell splinters of the battle field. To
increase the safety of the vehicle, DMT-85M1
is equipped with laser warning receivers,
which are able to pick up reflected laser
radiation, so even if the tank is not illuminated
but there are LRF/LD in the area, the crew
will be warned. It is equipped with twelve
smoke grenades and a thermal trap. |
Propulsion |
The
suspension of the DMT-85M1 is composed on
each side with 6 double road wheels and
4 track-return rollers, on each side of
the chassis. The drive sprocket is mounted
at the rear, and idler at the front. . The
upper part of the suspension is protected
with armour-plates. The DMT-85M1 is motorised
with s powered by an 8VSA2T2 turbo-charged
diesel with a maximum output of 610.46 kW
at 2,300 rpm. The DMT-85M1 can run at a
maximum speed on road of 60km/h, for a maximum
range of 400 km. |
Accessories |
A
hydraulic 6.5-tonne crane is fitted on the
right side of the roof of the hull. A system
of mine clearance, produced by Pearson is
assembled in front of the vehicle. It is
composed of a blade bulldozer, and three
large claws of mine clearance. The DMT-85M1
has also an automatic flags dispenser, one
on each side of the vehicle, which allows
the marking of the zones contaminated at
