Missile launcher | Two missiles S-125 are mounted to a platform, fitted to the back side of a light truck. The difference between the S-125 and the Pechora-2M. It took over three hours to transport the stationary S-125 launcher from one firing position to another, but the mobile Pechora-2M with the 5P73 index can change positions in just 20-25 minutes. Enhanced maneuverability contributes greatly to combat survivability, because approaching enemy aircraft can promptly attack exposed SAM launchers. | Missile | The S-125 system uses 2 different missiles versions. The V-600 had the smallest warhead with only 60 kg of High-Explosive. It had a range of about 15 km. The later version is named V-601. It has a length of 6.09 m, a wing span of 2.2 m and a body diameter of 0.375 m. This missile weighs 953 kg at launch, and has a 70 kg warhead containing 33 kg of HE and 4,500 fragments. The minimum range is 3.5 km, and the maximum is 35 km (with the Pechora 2A). The intercept altitudes are between 100 m and 18 km. The Pechora-2M features an optronic network consisting of one TV channel and one thermal imaging channel. This network makes it possible to attack and destroy aerial targets day and night in conditions of radio-electronic warfare. Consequently, the Pechora-2M can hit F-16 fighters at 30-km ranges and larger aircraft at a range of up to 35 km. The Pechora-2M, which can effectively hit incoming targets, uses new 5V27D and 5V27DE missiles, as well as the older 5V27 missiles. | Mobility | The Pechora 2M TEL is based on a 6 x 6 MZKT chassis and uses the two round 5P71 launcher (Defence Systems). Mounting of the air defense means on wheeled truck chassis, use of the program-controlled hydraulic drive of the antenna, modern communication facilities and space navigation equipment have provided mobility of the air defense system and essentially reduced the time for combat deployment. The system has an opportunity to be interfaced with removed radars and superior combat posts through telecode channels. Removal of the control cabin from the antenna post, and the application of electronic protection complex against antiradar missiles allow increasing survivability of the system. Such approach to the modernization of the `Pechora` air defense system allows to receive modern weapons at moderate charges. | Accessories | The new optronic system will provide detection, identifying and tracking the air targets both in the day and at night. Active noise protection means against self-homing missiles on target emanation are introduced into the system. The modernized missile has increased range and efficiency of target engagement. New teleoptical drift indicator provides targeting in conditions of radio-silence in day and night time. | | Specifications | Back to menu | Missile | Two missiles S-125 SA-3 | Country users | Egypt, Myanmar, Russia, Venezuela | WarHead | HE | Propulsion | Solid propellant rocket motor | | Weight missile | 953 kg | Lenght missile | 6,70 m | Range missile | 35,000 km | Associated Radars | Flat Face, Low Blow, Squat Eye | | | | |
