China to enhance military cooperation with Moldova.
Defense Minister Liang Guanglie on Thursday, September 13, 2012, held talks with visiting Moldovan Defense Minister Vitalie Marinuta, stating that the Chinese military is willing to promote relations with the Moldovan military. Liang, also China's State Councilor, said the Chinese side appreciates Moldova's understanding and support on issues concerning China's core interests, noting that cooperation between the two countries has deepened and expanded since they established diplomatic ties in 1992.

Relations between the two sides' armed forces have also seen progress in recent years, Liang said, adding that both sides have conducted multiple visits and exchanges.

Marinuta said the Moldovan side attaches importance to its relations with the Chinese military and is willing to strengthen bilateral cooperation in personnel training and peacekeeping.

The Moldovan side thanks China for its assistance in building up the Moldovan military, Marinuta said.

Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Guo Boxiong met with Marinuta after his talk with Liang.

Guo said he appreciates Moldova's firm adherence to the one-China principle, with Marinuta stating that Moldova will always adhere to the principle.
