Saudi Arabia and Airbus Defense and Space completed last stage of Northern Border Project
 
According to UPI, the final stage of a program to help secure Saudi Arabia's border with Iraq has been officially inaugurated. Airbus Defense and Space, working with its civil works partner, was the principle contractor for the Northern Border Project that covers about 559 miles of frontier.

MEADS Multifunction Fire Control Radar Proves Capabilities in Performance Tests
 
The Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) program has completed a six-week performance test of its 360-degree Multifunction Fire Control Radar (MFCR) at Pratica di Mare Air Force Base near Rome, Italy, and at MBDA Germany’s air defense center in Freinhausen in the presence of the German customer and guests from MEADS partner nations. This was the first time the MFCR has been operated in Germany.

Ukrainian State Guard Service has received new BTR-70 APCs
 
Ukraine's state-owned Ukroboronprom has delivered 10 repaired and updated BTR-70 armored personnel carriers to the country's State Guard Service. The defense company said the vehicles, with enhanced armor protection, were delivered earlier this month together with an armored medical vehicle. An additional BTR-70s are to be delivered "in the nearest future."

The US State Department has approved on Friday, September 19, a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Pakistan for 160 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, spair and repair parts, and training, etc., for an estimated cost of $198 million. The principal contractor will be Navistar Defense Corporation in Madison Heights, Michigan.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has proposed to the Secretary of Defence (SEDENA) and the Secretary of Navy (SEMAR), the two government agencies responsible for Mexican national defense, a budget set of 98,293,000 pesos ($7,440 million).

Raytheon begins building critical components for AN/TPY-2 ballistic missile defense radar
 
The US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) will soon have greater agility and capability in its fleet of AN/TPY-2 ballistic missile defense radars. Raytheon has begun construction of two major sub-components of the AN/TPY-2 under a $53 million contract announced by the Department of Defense on Sept 2. The units Raytheon is building will enable the MDA to rotate sub-components out of the field to receive depot-level upgrades while keeping the radars up and running.

Saab has been awarded a contract for their latest advanced Softkill solution, the LEDS-50 MK2. The contract amounts to the value of MSEK 48 ($6.7 million). The contract is from an undisclosed customer. The LEDS-50 MK2 provides additional protection to the vehicle and crew by detecting the presence of latest generation laser threats and automatically deploying countermeasures to avoid the vehicle being hit by the threat.
