Operation Doro by French Armed forces and Malian troops in the region of Gao.
From February 27 until now, french armed forces in coordination with the Malian army have conducted Operation Doro in the east of Gao, between the cities of Djebok and Telatai. The Doro Operation was held under the command of the Colonel Bert, commander of 92th Infantry Regiment (92eRI) and the support of French combat helicopters, engineer units and other military units of French Army Operation Serval.

The daily Doro operation conducted by French, Malian and African forces near Gao with the goal to secure the region, seek and destroy terrorist groups. In the region of Gao, terrorist groups continue to make some guerilla actions in the area.

In the night of 27 February, two groups of French infantry soldiers have infiltrated one identified terrorist area near the village of Imenas, around sixty kilometers from Gao. Armed Islamist rebels groups have tried to resist against the action of French army, but they were forced to break contact after the use of armoured infantry fighting vehicles VBCI and attack helicopter Tigre by French Forces.

Later, several rebels armed groups have joined the outskirts of the village of Imenas and harassed all day of March 1 the positions held by the French forces, at the same time, Malian forces have launched searchs in the village. During these actions, French troops were supported by attack helicopters and fighter aircraft Mirage 2000D, which have destroyed one armoured personnel carrier BTR-60PB and 3 light vehicles.

Ten rebels and one French soldier were killed in a confrontation on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Mali's northeastern region of Gao, the Malian military confirmed after Paris reported the loss of the fourth French soldier in the West African country.

There are an estimated 12,000 African and French troops in Mali in operations to comb the desert north after Al-Qaida linked rebels fled major towns under bombardments by French fightes aircraft.

Jihadist groups in northern Mali repeatedly pledged revenge attacks against France and any African countries joining the regional force.

Militants so far have carried out three suicide bombings targeting the towns of Gao and Kidal in northern Mali.
