On December 29, 2022, a picture was released on Twitter showing the destruction by the Ukrainian army of one Russian-made 2S4, the most powerful 240mm self-propelled mortar carrier in the world. The 2S4 also nicknamed Tyulpan was destroyed by the counter-battery fire of the Ukrainian forces. The Ukrainian army has already destroyed or damaged three 2S4 mortar carriers of the Russian army.

A picture was released on the Facebook account of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on December 28, 2022, showing a new hybrid 120mm self-propelled mortar carrier vehicle used by Ukrainian soldiers. According to our first analysis, the vehicle is based on the chassis of a BMP-1 IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) equipped with the turret of a 2S9 NONA, a Soviet-made 120 mm self-propelled mortar carrier tracked armored vehicle.

The LRU rocket launcher tracked vehicles, the French version of the American M270 227mm MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) donated by France are now on combat duty with the Ukrainian armed forces and ready to be used against the Russian forces deployed in Ukraine. A picture was released on Social Networks on December 21, 2022, showing a French LRU rocket launcher in an undisclosed area in Ukraine.

Russian armed forces have one of the largest artillery forces in the world which are used intensively in the fights against the Ukrainian army. Despite having developed in the 70s, Russian artillery units continue to use in Ukraine the Tyulpan M-1975, NATO code-named 2S4, a 240mm self-propelled mortar tracked armored vehicle which is considered as the most powerful mobile mortar system in the world.

The Ukrainian soldiers captured enough BMP-3 tracked armored IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehicles) of the Russian army to equip one infantry motorized battalion. Several pictures and videos were published on social networks showing the 98th Territorial Defense Battalion Azov equipped with a mix of Russian-made BMP-3 IVS and YPR-765 light tracked APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) vehicles donated by the Netherlands.

In the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), fighting continues in the area of the village of Kremennaya, Anna-News Info reports. The Russian Armed Forces and the 2nd Army Corps of the LPR are trying to break through the positions of the Ukrainian army. During the hostilities, BMPT Terminator fire support combat vehicles are used to fight Ukrainian forces using their firepower consisting of a 30mm twin-cannon, four Ataka anti-tank guided missiles, one 7.62mm machine gun, and two 30mm automatic grenade launchers.

Analysis: Fight Ukraine T-64BV tank vs. Russian T-72B3 tank. In the Russia and Ukraine conflict that started in February 2022, we could not see a lot of tank combat because most of the time these are destroyed by anti-tank weapons or artillery fire. Recently, a video was published on Social Networks showing a Ukrainian T-64BV tank destroying by direct fire a T-72B3 from the Russian army.

According to information released by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian air force bases attacked on December 5, 2022, would have suffered an airstrike thanks to the use of the old Soviet-made modified reconnaissance drone Tupolev Tu-141 launched from Ukraine and fitted with an explosive warhead. The Ukrainian government has not yet confirmed that the strikes were carried out by Ukraine.
