The United States and Germany will each deliver to Ukraine a PATRIOT air defense missile battery to counter the drone and missile attacks of the Russian armed forces. PATRIOT is one of the world’s most advanced air defense systems, and it will give Ukraine a critical long-range capability to defend its airspace.
Among the weapons that will be supplied by the U.S. to the Ukrainian army are radar-guided RIM-7 Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missiles, which can be launched from Soviet-era Buk surface-to-air missile systems by the Ukrainian air defense.
On December 29, 2022, a picture was released on Twitter showing the destruction by the Ukrainian army of one Russian-made 2S4, the most powerful 240mm self-propelled mortar carrier in the world.
