Ukrainian Defense Ministry claims Russia lost more than USD 10Bn worth of military equipment in Ukraine


Russia has already lost more than $10 billion worth of military equipment in Ukraine to date (April 1, 2020), the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement released on Telegram, Ukrinform reports. "Due to the coordinated interaction of troops and forces, a large amount of Russian equipment is being destroyed. The enemy has already lost [military equipment] worth more than $10 billion," the statement said.

The seven most expensive pieces of military equipment that Russia lost in Ukraine include a T-90M tank worth up to $3 million, a Pantsir-S1 air-defense missile-gun system worth up to $15 million, a Kamov Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter worth up to $16 million, an Ilyushin Il-76D Candid military transport aircraft worth up to $27 million, a modern Sukhoi Su-35S Flanker fighter aircraft worth up to $65 million, an Iskander-M mobile short-range ballistic missile system worth up to $100 million, and the large landing ship Saratov (destroyed in the port of Berdiansk) worth more than $100 million.

Ukrinform reported earlier that from February 24 to April 1, Russia lost about 17,700 troops in Ukraine.

The enemy also lost 625 tanks, 1,751 armored fighting vehicles, 316 artillery systems, 96 multiple launch rocket systems, 54 air defense systems, 143 aircraft, 131 helicopters, 1,220 vehicles, and seven ships/boats.

“Since the beginning of the special military operation the Russian army has destroyed 124 planes, 80 helicopters, 345 drones, 1,826 tanks and other armored vehicles, 195 multiple launch rocket systems, 766 artillery guns and mortars, and 1,704 military vehicles,” he said.

In the past 24 hours, Russia’s tactical aircraft targeted 28 Ukrainian military facilities. “During the day, tactical aircraft targeted 28 Ukrainian military facilities, including four command posts, three field missile and artillery weapons depots, four fuel depots and six combat equipment storage sites,” the spokesman said.

Konashenkov added that the Russian Armed Forces eliminated six Ukrainian military facilities, in addition to five ammunition depots, using high-precision airborne weapons. “High-precision airborne weapons destroyed six Ukrainian military facilities, including five weapons and ammunition depots in Boguslavsky, Krestishe, Reznikov, Velikaya Novoselka and one oil depot,” Konashenkov said.
