The company’s incredibly successful Recon Scout and Throwbot systems are distinguished from all other tactical robots by their small size, exceptional durability and ease of use. For example, the highly water resistant Throwbot XT delivers both video and audio reconnaissance, is equipped with an automatic infrared optical system and can traverse cluttered indoor environments or outdoor landscapes. Moreover, it weighs just 1.2lbs (540g). Operating the device requires no special training, and it can be deployed in five seconds simply by pulling the activation pin and throwing it into an environment. Once the robot has been deployed, it can be directed to move through the environment and transmit video back to a 1.6lb handheld Operator Control Unit (OCU). This Know Before You Go® capability enables soldiers, EOD personnel, urban search and rescue teams and law enforcement officers to gain critical situational awareness before they enter the environment.
Moreover, unlike larger and more difficult to deploy robotic systems, the Throwbot XT enables dismounted warfighters to maintain the tempo of operations throughout their missions. The company has four distinct robots, each designed to support different mission profiles: – Recon Scout Throwbot LE – Recon Scout IR – Recon Scout UVI – Throwbot XT In addition, ReconRobotics manufactures and distributes a broad portfolio of accessories that increase the utility and versatility of its robot platforms. Among these are field charging systems for the robots and OCUs, lightweight field repair kits that permit quick replacement of key components, and a telescoping SearchStick® pole that attaches to the robot and functions as a pole camera. ReconRobotics has a robust and secure supply chain and can customize its commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products and accessories into configurations that maximize utility to warfighters and enable swift delivery into combat zones.
