Acmat a wide range of military logistic light tactical vehicles for the modern battlefield.

Military logistics is the discipline of planning and carrying out the movement and maintenance of military forces. Military logistics has become an essential part to support military personnel deployed on the battlefield. The main missions of logistics units are storage, distribution, maintenance, evacuation, disposition of equipment, transport of personnel, maintenance, medical and health service support. To ensure all these missions modern armies must have reliable vehicle able to evolve in any type of combat environments.

Armies’ logistics have evolved and are now called "Combat Support". While perfect forecasts are difficult to achieve, forecast models can at least reduce uncertainty about what supplies or services that will be needed, where and when they will be needed, or the best way to provide them. In major military conflicts, logistics matters often prove crucial in deciding the overall outcome of wars.

In order for the Military to operate successfully, the proper materials, equipment and people need to be in the right place at the right time. Transportation, Supply and Logistics officers make sure that necessary supplies, personnel and services are available on base and abroad according to military plans. Strong organizational skills are essential in this field, as is strict attention to detail.

To achieve these goals logistics units must have trained staff who can rely on dependable combat vehicles that are not only meant for transport. Since its early years in the 50s, ACMAT develops an unrivalled expertise in the field of military tactical logistic vehicles. Led by a permanent requirement, ACMAT designs the best performing mobility solutions in the most challenging terrain.

With the first generation VLRA TPK, the French Defence Company ACMAT presented a multi-mission vehicle which can be adapted for a full range of missions. The VLRA vehicles were especially designed for harsh operating environments. The ACMAT trucks are known for their simplicity, reliability and ruggedness. Originally they were targeted at African and Asian countries, but now the ACMAT VLRA range is used all over the world.

More than 12,000 VLRA trucks and ALTV pickups brave the limits, performing military and security missions in more than 50 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

As part of the evolution of missions, military logistics have also evolved to satisfy two new requirements, the peacekeeping and the supply of soldiers in combat area.

The experience acquired by the military in Afghanistan and Iraq showed that the logistical convoys are confronted with two main problems, mobility and protection. Combat units are often deployed over long distances, with hard to access isolated forward bases. Afghanistan is a concrete example of the difficulties of supply because of the lack of roads and the harsh terrain in the country. The second problem is the protection, logistic convoys are the main targets of the enemy, because they are poorly armed and isolated from combat units.

The new ACMAT VLRA TDN-TDE is motorized with the next generation of Euro 5 5 (Euro 2 or Euro 3 variants are also available) 5.0-litre Turbo Diesel Intercooler engine coupled to a manual or automatic gearbox with 5 forward and 1 reverse speed.

It is now one the best logistic vehicles in its class worldwide, with an increased mobility thanks to a new powerful engine of 215 hp that allows the vehicle to cover a range of 1,400 km without refueling. The payload was also increased from 2,500 kg to 4,500 kg. The VLRA TDN/TDE can carry 12 to 19 soldiers or a shelter.

In the past, threats for logistics convoys came from small arms fire or rocket launchers. Today, new threats come from roadside bombs and IED's (Improvised Explosive Device). The recent events in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebanon have shown that logistic vehicles should also be equipped with armor to protect the crew.

The French Defence Company ACMAT understood the need to improve the protection of its range of logistics vehicles by introducing in the VLRA TDN/TDE a ballistic protection NATO STANAG 4569 Level L.1, L.2 and anti-mine L.2a. In addition, the VLRA TDN/TDE can be fitted with additional armour kits, which give ballistic protection levels 1 / 2 / 3 and anti-mine protection levels 2a / 2b STANAG 4569.
