China has recently completed a six-day live-fire test with various ammunition with the local-made unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Caihong 4 (Rainbow 4, or CH-4). The CH-4 is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE)-class, strike-capable reconnaissance platform that has been developed by the China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics.

The United Institute of High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences found a way to increase the power of the electromagnetic gun six times. The electromagnetic field accelerates the projectiles to close to space speed. Even a small object carries high destructive power. Experts believe the research of the institute can be used to create weapons in future, the Izvestia daily reported.

According a press release of January 8, 2018, Israeli Company UVision Air Ltd, a global pioneer of lethal aerial loitering systems of all sizes, has successfully demonstrated the Hero-400EC extended-range loitering system for a strategic customer. The demonstration, which took place in southern Israel in December 2017, proved the tracking and lock-on capabilities of the system using a moving vehicle and a human target in various operational scenarios as well as its mission-abort capabilities. The ability to strike a target with exceptional precision was also demonstrated.

The Russian Khrizantema-S is a self-propelled anti-tank launcher unit especially designed to destroy current and future generations of main battle tanks and can also be used to engage slow and low flying aerial targets like helicopters. The missile system is mounted on the BMP-3 IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) without the standard turret.

According to the Australian Defence Business Review website, Australian Army and Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group CASG, in charge of military acquisition have deployed a number of new Hawkei 4x4 Light Protected Vehicles to Iraq for operational trials with Task Force Taji, a combined Australian-New Zealand military training force located at the Taji Military Complex northwest of Baghdad.
