Bearcat 4x4 armoured vehicle of Saskatoon Police in Canada has proven its worth
 

The Saskatoon Police Service’s Emergency Response Team’s of Canada armoured rescue vehicle, the Bearcat, seems to have proven its worth during its first year of service. According to the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS), the Bearcat has been utilized 25 times since it was acquired by the force in March of 2012, seeing a total of 16 calls in 2012 and another nine in 2013.

The Saskatoon Police Service’s Emergency Response Team’s of Canada armoured rescue vehicle, the Bearcat, seems to have proven its worth during its first year of service. DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency of United States) researchers at the University of Michigan have made significant progress with a timing & inertial measurement unit (TIMU) that contains everything needed to aid navigation when GPS is temporarily unavailable.

Performers at DRS Technologies, Inc., working on the DARPA Advanced Wide FOV Architectures for Image Reconstruction and Exploitation (AWARE) program, have demonstrated the first LWIR camera that uses pixels only five microns across.

Fifty-one new Foxhound light protected patrol vehicles for the British troops in Afghanistan
 

The British Ministry of Defence is investing £46m in acquiring fifty-one new Foxhound patrol vehicles for soldiers serving on the front line in Afghanistan. Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology Philip Dunne made the announcement during a visit to the General Dynamics Land Systems - Force Protection Europe (GDLS-FPE) facility in Telford, which provides spares for the Foxhound vehicle.

Over the past decade the only thing that has been able to slow the Army's premier combat vehicle, hasn't been enemies on the battlefield, but rather the technological advancements added to the platform. While every vehicle is designed to have Space, Weight, and Power, or SWaP, margin for incremental improvements, recent upgrades made to the Abrams M1A2 SEP V2 have left little margin for future improvements.
