Polish Company Jelcz unveils new 6x6 truck chassis for future Kryl 155mm self-propelled howitzer.
July 17, 2014, the Polish Defense Company Jelcz unveils for the first time to the public a new familiy of 6x6 truck chassis especially designed for the development of new 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzer, called "Kryl". This chassis will also be used for a new multiple launch rocket system, the "Omar".

The first prototype of truck chassis for the Kril artillery howitzer is currently undergoing test and field trials in Poland.

In the framework of the modernization of its armed forces, Poland has showed interest for new wheeled self-propelled howitzer, as the Kryl. The design of the new artillery system will be based on the Krab 155mm tracked self-propelled howitzer and the WR-40 Langusta MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) to reduce production and operating costs.

The new wheeled howitzer will have high mobility and can airlift by military transport aircraft C-130, which are currently in service with the Polish air Force".

According some representatives of Jelcz Company, the first prototype of the Kryl will be ready for 2015 and could enter in service with the Polish Army in 2017.

Jelcz is a Polish brand of trucks also military, buses and trolley buses produced by Zaklady Samochodowe Jelcz, Jelczanskie Zaklady Samochodowe. Currently company operates under the name Jelcz-Komponenty with focus on off-road military trucks manufacturing.
