Technodinamika designs various parachutes for Russian airborne and aerospace forces – Part 1

Technodinamika Holding demonstrated the latest parachute designs of its enterprises at MAKS-2021 airshow. The companies include the Universal Design and Production Complex in Moscow, the Mechanical Plant in Solnechnogorsk, and the Research Institute of Parachute Manufacturing. They design new parachutes for the Aerospace, Airborne forces, commandos and rescuers, the Military-Industrial Courier writes.

The holding works to unify the key characteristics of a new generation of parachutes. One of the examples is the Junker parachute already delivered to the armed forces. It has passed acceptance trials with a load of 180-225 kg. Suspended Junker PPSS for sniffer dogs is an additional element. The 2.5-kg system drops the dog of 45 kg together with the master. The maximum ceiling for a paratrooper dog is 4,000 meters. Acceptance trials of Junker PPSS are to be completed by the end of 2021.

The holding is designing several automatically controlled cargo parachutes, which combine a parachute wing, a cargo platform, and an automatic cord control module. Junker-DG-250 that can carry 250 kg of cargo is undergoing preliminary trials. Acceptance trials have to be completed in 2021 and supplies are to begin in 2022.

Designers said the landing precision error does not exceed a hundred meters. The parachute orients in three ways: by inbuilt GLONASS/GPS receivers, by following the leading parachute equipped with an infrared beacon, and by remote control from the ground.

Horizontal-4000 cargo parachute is also undergoing preliminary trials. Its several parachutes can follow each other and land a cargo of 4 tons.

An electronic safety device, which has never been produced in Russia, has begun acceptance trials. It has to timely open the standby parachute if the descending speed and the distance to the ground become critical. Another safety device is being designed to control onboard the aircraft the jump of a paratrooper and the operability of the safety device. The design is a major import replacement success, as Russian defense enterprises have not produced such devices before.

The Cadet series of parachutes has to complete trials in 2021. Cadet-100 is to replace the D-10 parachute. The weight of a paratrooper with cargo can reach 160 kg and the vertical descending speed will not exceed five meters per second. Cadet-75 is another parachute under trials.

Despite a round canopy, the Cadet has good maneuverability and the horizontal speed is 3.5 meters per second to minimize the risk of collision in a group airdrop. A paratrooper with Cadet-100D can make a full turnaround in 12 seconds.

Cadet-100D is stable during descent and has a high carrying capacity (cargo containers can carry a 50-kg payload). It is controlled by two cords only and can fit human height of 1.60 to 2.0 meters regardless of the clothes. Cadet-100D is fit for the Sotnik new-generation combat outfit. Its carrying capacity increases by 30 kg in this case, while cargo containers have to be upgraded.
